The plans approved by Hastings Borough Council, will provide accommodation near the university's teaching buildings in Havelock Road and Priory Square and will provide 223 rooms clustered in six-bedroom flats at the Station Plaza building in Hastings.
State-of-the-art accommodation and facilities will be provided for students to enhance their learning experience in the town. The site is within walking and or cycling distance of the university's teaching buildings in Hastings, supporting our commitment to sustainable transport across the local area.
Sue McHugh, the university's Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance said: "This will make a huge difference to the students and the growth of our university."
"For most students going to university being able to have halls accommodation in your first year is really important in your choice of where to go. We are looking at growing the student numbers to about 1,500 students.
"We think this development will provide about the right level of halls accommodation for those numbers."
