The ten second and third-year Multimedia Broadcast Journalism students will be working for ITV Meridian, filming declarations at the counts and the winning candidates.
Their footage will sent to Meridian for broadcast and it may feature in national ITV bulletins. Their reports and photos will be edited for Meridian’s website.
The students, based at the university’s campus in Hastings, will be covering results in Eastbourne, Lewes, Worthing, Haywards Heath, Tunbridge Wells, Battle and Bexhill.
They will be supported by Joanna MacDonnell, Principal Lecturer in the School of Art, Design and Media, Jackie Errigo, Senior Lecturer in the school, and Adrienne Rosen, Senior Lecturer in the School of Sport and Service Management.
Ms MacDonnell said: “This is a great opportunity for students to gain first-hand experience of covering a live national event - and getting close up to a General Election.”
