“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with all those who have been affected by the shootings in Orlando on Sunday 12 June. This is a truly awful and shocking moment for the people of Orlando.
“The university will be holding a one-minute silence at 11am today, to take a moment to pay our respects and express our sincere condolences for the victims involved in this attack, and their families.
“Our institution will continue to support and stand by those working to challenge incidents of hate crime, such as this one on the LGBT+ community, as well as the everyday experiences of discrimination faced by people from all walks of life.
“We stand shoulder to shoulder with the city of Brighton and Hove in paying our respects and celebrating the diversity of our community.”
