From the institutions evaluated, the CWUR ranked the top 1000 highest-scoring research-intensive institutions.
Brighton came 792nd – up from 806th in 2016, and 824th in 2015. The new ranking puts the university 60th in the UK – unchanged from 2016 and up from 61st in 2015.
The university’s improved ranking has been driven by gains in two areas: ‘Influence’, as measured by its appearance in influential journals, and ‘Broad Impact’, based on the number of highly-impactful papers staff have published.
Professor Debra Humphris, °®¶¹´«Ã½ Vice-Chancellor, said: “This is encouraging news and provides richly-deserved recognition of the high-quality research the university conducts and of the achievements of our alumni and academic staff.
