Each of those attendees, all of whom have worked at the university for at least 25 years, received a certificate and silver pin in recognition of their long service and had the opportunity to share stories and memories with colleagues.
Speaking at the event, Professor Debra Humphris, Vice-Chancellor of the university, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to some wonderful colleagues who have all made a difference for thousands of students over many decades. This event is being held to mark the 25th anniversary of the granting of our university status in 1992 although our roots in the city go right back to 1859 when the first Brighton School of Art was established in the kitchens of the Royal Pavilion.
“Throughout this time colleagues like those we are celebrating today have helped to make our university a very special place. And long may they continue to do so.”
