About this bursary
When is this bursary paid?
You will receive your bursary in each year of your course subject to the qualifying criteria still being met. Please note that the £1,000 cash is only paid in the first year of your course. Bursaries are paid in two instalments: 16 January and 2 May.
EU and part-time widening access bursaries
The EU and part-time widening access bursaries consist of a fee reduction in the first year of your course. The amount you qualified for should have been taken from the account for your first year's fees.

Who is eligible?
°®¶¹´«Ã½ widening access bursaries are paid to students who meet the following criteria:
- undergraduate student from England
- studying on a full-time undergraduate course (registered to study 120 credits)
- household income up to and including £25,000 a year
- from a neighbourhood where fewer than the average number of people go to university
- eligible for the standard government student support package of maintenance grant and student loans for fees and living costs
- entered higher education for the first time in 2012 or 2013
- studying for an undergraduate honours degree or foundation degree at the °®¶¹´«Ã½ or an indirectly funded course at Plumpton, Brighton Metropolitan College, East Sussex College Group
- not in receipt of the °®¶¹´«Ã½ care leaver’s bursary.
You do not need to make an application to be considered for this bursary. Using the information you provided to UCAS and Student Finance England, we will assess you against the eligibility criteria.
Your eligibility for this bursary will be re-assessed each academic year.
Exceptions
Nursing, midwifery, social work and allied health professions (AHP) courses and have different tuition fee and funding arrangements and do not qualify for the °®¶¹´«Ã½ widening access bursary.
Your eligibility for a °®¶¹´«Ã½ widening access bursary may be affected if you already have a degree or other higher education qualification and you study for another qualification at the same or a lower level.
