Welcome to the 15th issue of the news publication, published in Autumn 2023 as the Research and Knowledge Exchange Magazine, and introduced by our Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Knowledge Exchange), Professor Rusi Jaspal.
____________
I am delighted to introduce the latest edition of the Research and Knowledge Exchange Magazine.
At the °®¶¹´«Ã½, we are proud of our research and knowledge exchange activity, which enriches our teaching, drives important partnerships and collaborations, and produces new knowledge and positive societal impact.
Our advances are only possible through the collective efforts of our pioneering colleagues and engaged partners and I am grateful to everyone who contributes to our achievements.
Building on our Research Excellence Framework 2021 (REF2021) success and operating within a challenging national picture, we continue to focus on our research strengths and enhance our activity.
Our Research and Knowledge Exchange Strategic Plan 2022-2025 outlines our aim to cultivate excellence, nurture talent, invest in sustained impact, and grow our international collaborations. In this magazine, we share stories about our work and initiatives supporting researchers across all disciplines and career stages to bring these aspirations to life.
Together, we address global challenges, tackling climate change, improving equality and inclusivity, enhancing wellbeing and promoting creative and sustainable economies, regionally, nationally and internationally.
Extraordinary research by Professor Mahmood Bhutta addresses each and every one of these themes. Do watch him in conversation with Professor Mark Devenney for an uplifting insight into how research can help to transform the world around us and enjoy our articles featuring other colleagues from Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) as we join them in celebrating the 20th anniversary year for BSMS.
I hope that you find this issue informative and inspiring and thank you for your continued interest and involvement.
